W&G successfully prosecuted this qui tam against Shands Healthcare without government involvement. The case alleged improper billing of Medicare and Medicaid for admitting patients to the hospital rather than treating them on an outpatient basis because the government pays more for services rendered on an inpatient basis. The case settled in 2013 for $26,000,000.
