Healthcare Enforcement Compliance Institute

On October 23, 2016 Marlan will be on a panel at the HCCA Healthcare Enforcement Compliance Institute in Washington, D.C. He will be participating with representatives from the FCA defense bar, HHS-OIG and the Civil Division of the Department of Justice regarding the topic: “Negotiating False Claims Act Settlements”.

On October 24, 2016 Marlan will participate as a panelist at the HCCA conference in Washington, D.C. The panel discussion is titled “Advanced Discussion: Kickback Stark and False Claims Act”. The panel will feature top Stark attorneys from the relators bar and the defense bar who will be discussing many of the nuances involved in litigating Stark, kickback and FCA cases.

ABA Health Fraud Institute

On May 15, 2015, Marlan Wilbanks will be in Miami, Florida speaking at the ABA Health Fraud Institute. He will participate as a panel member on a case discussing the Halifax litigation and settlement along with the other attorneys and Government counsel who were involved in the resolution of the largest Stark settlement to date.

Georgia Bar Association’s Whistleblower Law Conference

On March 18, 2015, Marlan Wilbanks will be participating in the Georgia Bar Association’s Whistleblower Law Conference to be held at the State Bar offices in Atlanta, Georgia. Marlan will be on a panel with other Qui Tam experts discussing recent trends and developments in False Claims Act cases.

Health Care Compliance Association Audit & Compliance Conference

On Monday, February 27, 2015, Marlan Wilbanks will be participating as a faculty member at the Health Care Compliance Association Audit & Compliance Conference being held in Scottsdale, Arizona. Marlan’s panel will focus on discussing the lessons to be learned from important FCA, Stark and Kickback cases for audit and compliance professionals.

Southeast Compliance Conference

On January 23, 2015, Marlan Wilbanks spoke at the Southeast Compliance Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. He appeared on a panel that discussed new trends and tactics in FCA cases that are being litigated across the country.

Florida Health Law Section of the Florida Bar

On January 15, 2014, Marlan spoke to the Florida Health Law Section of the Florida Bar attorneys in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He talked about a number of cases he is handling and discussed important new trends that are emerging in FCA cases in Florida.

Georgia Bar Healthcare Fraud Conference

On December 11, 2014, Marlan Wilbanks participated on a panel discussion for the Georgia Bar Healthcare Fraud Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The panel discussed key issues that emerged in 2014 in STARK, Kickback and FCA cases across the country.

Los Angeles Bar Association’s 11th Annual Healthcare Law Compliance Symposium

On October 9, 2014, Marlan Wilbanks was a speaker at the Los Angeles Bar Association’s 11th Annual Healthcare Law Compliance Symposium in Los Angeles, California. Marlan’s presentation focused on the new trend in FCA, Stark and Kickback litigation that is emerging in which large FCA cases are being litigated by private counsel such as Wilbanks & Bridges, with or without Government intervention in the case.

Bridge the Gap Seminars

Presented by State Bar of Georgia and Institute of Continuing Legal Education in Georgia, Bridge the Gap is a mandatory requirement for newly admitted attorneys to the State Bar of Georgia. It is held twice a year. Marlan has made many presentations at the bi-annual Bridge the Gap seminars since 1994. The focus of his presentation is “Advising Your Clients Wisely so as to Avoid Unnecessary Litigation Exposure and Costs.” He deals with the practical and ethical components of being a lawyer in this day and time.
